What Sustainable Woodstock is for
Sustainable Woodstock began in 2008 when local people came together around waste, recycling, energy use, conservation and climate change. The idea was simple: make useful changes here in Woodstock, help people understand what they can do, and build support for bigger changes where local action alone is not enough.
Today our work spans climate action, nature recovery, renewable energy, active travel and road safety, waste reduction, local campaigning and community projects. We raise awareness, share practical ideas, organise projects, support campaigns and, where it matters, lobby councils, MPs and other decision-makers.
How the group works
People contribute time, local knowledge and professional skills around the issues they care about. There is no requirement to be involved in everything.
We value projects people can see and take part in — from woodland management and tree planting to litter picks and local events.
When change depends on councils, developers or national policy, we organise, make the case and keep local experience visible.
We are part of the CAG Oxfordshire network and work with organisations including Low Carbon Hub, local councils, schools, churches and neighbouring community groups.

Working groups are deliberately flexible. Some people take an ongoing role; others join for a particular campaign, event or task.
Part of something wider
Sustainable Woodstock is one of many Community Action Groups across Oxfordshire. We also work with organisations such as Low Carbon Hub, Friends of the Earth Oxford, local eco-churches, Woodstock Town Council, Oxfordshire councils, schools, businesses, Blenheim Palace and neighbouring communities.

Sustainable Woodstock is an unincorporated volunteer organisation with elected officers, a steering group and topic-based working groups. Our current constitution and privacy information are published openly.
